This past weekend took us out to historic Carnton Plantation in Franklin, TN for Haley & Kevin’s wedding celebration. This is a fabulous venue with tons of character and history. Carnton was originally used as a field hospital during the Civil War and has one of the largest, private Civil War cemeteries in the country. The main house was the site of the Ceremony. We setup on the porch, off to the side (to avoid being in the pictures) and a soloist sang for the bridal party entrance.
The Reception was setup about 100 yards away at The Fleming Center, on their back patio area. The bride’s father had strung rope lighting, giving it a beautiful glow. As we started into the dinner hour, Mother Nature decided to intervene and throw us a curve-ball in the form of rain. As the guests moved inside, the director (Elizabeth) asked if I could move indoors. Grabbing the ceremony system and a wireless speaker, I quickly setup inside the building and got ready for our Grand Entrance, followed by First Dance, then cutting of the cake. By the time we finished with cake-cutting, the rain had stopped and so we decided to move things back outside again.
By the time we finished with parent dances, the guests were ready to party and party they did! We started off with several classics and then got treated to a special Michael Jackson-style dance by Kevin and his best man.
There were several high points during the evening and I’m just thankful the rain finally let up. These guys make a beautiful couple and were an absolute delight to work with. Here are a few more pics and the playlist:
